Unfortunately, the build failed when trying to compile the gnu texinfo code. A quick search of the mailing lists shows that some of the code became broken around June/July...

I'm going to start from scratch with the -current code and see if I can manually patch the appropriate source code. If that works I'll put together a newer patch file.

It seems as though the -current source needs a newer version of your patch, as I was unable to get it to compile. For the time being I have done a cvs -D20030608 to get the same version of the source as when you made the patch and that is currently compiling nicely.

Thanks for your work on this, it has been very helpful. When I get some time I'll look deeper into where the -current source fails to compile and let you know.

Has anything changed dramatically since when you wrote this up? I've tried to compile both 1.6 and -current, with different error messages.

Yes, there were a number of changes in the main source base. I have just uploaded a new version of the patch that should allow compilation of the current source tree again. Please let me know if you have any more problems with it.
